You should consider having legal document to protect yourself in the future

If there aren’t any assets in the relationship this may be a simple process. However It’s still worth having a clean break consent order so that any assets that you build up in the future (or inherit) are protected.  Getting divorced without a consent order won’t protect you from your ex partner from making a claim against you in the future.
