A pre-nuptial agreement (before marriage) or post-nuptial agreement (after the marriage has taken place) sets out ownership of belongings (including money, assets and property) and explains how it will be divided in the event of the breakdown of their marriage.
Whilst perceived by some to be pessimistic and unromantic, they can provide guidance to help protect your legal position circumventing time, expense and acrimony in the future should the worst happen.
