To start divorce or dissolution proceedings

You need :

•To be married or in a civil partnership for at least one year.

•An original copy of your marriage certificate, in English.  (If you’ve lost it, a new one can be ordered from the registrar where you married or from the government website. If your marriage certificate is not written in English, you must get it translated and notarised).

• If you are applying you will need your husband or wife’s current address, as the court will need it to send them a copy of the divorce application.
